Mr. James has over 25 years of experience in medical group management and consulting. Most of his experience has been in establishing, merging, acquiring and managing medical groups; developing management company (MSO) entities with a variety of ownership forms; operating fully integrated and network model medical groups under stringent managed care constraints; consulting with various health care organizations on medical group performance improvement; restructuring health system relationships with physicians for improved performance and viability; managing turn-around situations; launching new ventures that improve patient access, quality of care and create equity opportunities for physicians; and teaching, public speaking and written contributions to the field of knowledge.

Mr. James has served as the Senior Vice President for Physician Programs at Broadlane, Executive Director of the UCSF Medical Group, President of the Permanente Company (Kaiser Permanente), Senior Partner with APM/CSC Health Care Consulting, President of Alta Bates Medical Resources, Executive Director of Alta Bates Medical Group, and Chief Operating Officer of Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group.

Mr. James' education includes a BBA in Accounting and Pre-Medicine from The George Washington University; an MS Degree in Quantitative Business Analysis from the University of Southern California; and an MBA Degree in Marketing and Quantitative Business Analysis from the University of San Diego. Mr. James also did post graduate work in Quantitative Business Analysis at the University of Southern California and Policy Analysis at the Rand Graduate Institute.
